“I’m so happy with my experience at The Couture Company and would recommend anyone wondering whether to take the plunge or not to just go for it! I was such a pain up the arse bride and changed my mind on what I wanted about 3 times! Poor them. But Jo took it all in her stride, listened intently, calmed me the hek down (the dress was the only thing that completely overwhelmed me) and im glad to report we got there in the end. I even wanted to change the style of my dress on my last but one fitting, less than 2 weeks before the wedding, and it was just done for me, no bother, no judgement, no problems. When I finally tried my dress on in my last fitting, 4 days before my Wedding, I knew I’d made the right decision to have my dress made for me (even though it took me a while to get there!) and the team did an OUTSTANDING job on the final piece. The lace; the finish and the craftsmanship was beautiful. All my family cried when they saw me. Phew!!!
The reason behind all the changes of mind were basically down to a 2 stone weight loss over the course of our engagement. As the weight came off I became more body confident and realised that I didn’t want to hide behind the mass of material I’d originally wanted when I’d gone for my initial consultation. I started off wanting sleeves, i.e wanting to cover up my arms, but months later (and arms slightly skinnier) I’d asked to have them chopped off. I’d initially wanted gathers and pleats to hide my tummy, but as tummy got smaller I felt I had the confidence to go more fitted and streamlined. Jo was a true Pro and completely understood my Bridezilla demands!!! She was SOOOO patient with me. I couldn’t have apologised enough. She did exactly what I asked and didn’t once let on that she probably wanted to kill me. God bless her!
I honestly couldn’t recommend the Couture Company more. I couldn’t imagine wearing anything else now and most importantly, hubby LOVED it!!! Thankyou to everyone who worked on my dress” Aimee Love x

I have admired The Couture Company for many years (even before the twinkle of my engagement ring) and their amazing dresses. When I got engaged to my now husband, I knew that I had to visit Jo and the team. However, one day I walked past a Bridal shop on a local high street and decided to just enquire (I was excited after all). The response from the lady was not so pleasant and she advised that they stocked nothing above a size 12. I went home and cried.
When it came to my first appointment with The Couture Company, I was a little nervous and apprehensive to say the least. I had nothing to be nervous about. Jo was AMAZING. There were dresses of all sizes, styles and colours. The fact that I was plus size was never a factor. I knew I didn’t want a long dress as I wanted to show off my wedding shoes and I had the idea of going for colour, as the Couture Company is so colourful.
I tried on a few of the sample dresses and then with the assistance of Jo’s creative mind, I decided on what I wanted. Over the next few months I had several appointments and each time I felt very welcome and comfortable with Jo. On the final fitting I tried on my dress to show my Mom and Dad and their reactions reinforced the fact that I had made the right choice in dress and The Couture Company. I didn’t feel like a plus size woman in a dress. I felt beautiful, confident and happy. I couldn’t wait to marry my now husband.
My wedding dress was flawless in every way. Jo and the ladies made me feel beautiful. I still look at my dress every day, because it is so perfect. The ladies attention to detail is amazing. I recommend them to any woman that is thinking of her wedding day.
As part of my work, I get to meet some incredible people, super awesome both inside and out. One of these people is the lovely Regula a.k.a. Miss Foodwise .
Regula is an acclaimed Food blogger from Belgium and is particularly obsessed with most things British and British cuisine. So as well as her blogging and food photography projects she has been also beavering away writing a new book , based on old British pudding recipes. It’s a mouth watering read for sure!!!
I don’t know if you remember but a while ago we created this beautiful swan inspired dress for her.
So I was absolutely doubly honoured and thrilled when Regula asked me to make her a dress to wear at her London book launch, so we came up with the idea of embellishing the dress with embroideries of illustrations from the book. Now you know i mentioned getting to meet awesome people as part of my work? well Regula’s book was illustrated by her incredibly talented husband, the creative genius Bruno Vergauwen (you should check him out, his eye for detail is unbelievable!!
Thanks so much Regula for sending all these lovely photos and testimonial xxxx (below)
“The Couture Company team really made my happy day perfect…
I admit this is my second dress made by these talented ladies, I just can’t get enough and when the launch of my debut book was getting closer, I knew only one dress would be perfect.
I have a degree in fashion and although I haven’t created a pattern in over 10 years, I do know when a dress is perfectly tailored. I can get a happy feeling when seams are where they should be and not higher where they usually are. Unless if you have the perfect mannequin doll body, of the rack clothing will never fit a beautifully as a bespoke dress.
If you appreciate perfectionism as I do, a Couture company dress is absolute heaven.
I don’t ever get my nails done, or get a facial, or go out to expensive restaurants, but a bespoke dress, that’s my choice of luxury. Worth every single penny.
Jo and her team are absolutely delightful, and even though I live in Belgium and we didn’t have the amount of fittings Jo normally requires, the dress was just perfect. Jo came to the book launch and adjusted a final few things on the waist and buttons because she wanted it to fit perfectly. I must add she was also an invited guest!
The design we came up with together, the general design is Jo’s and I just added requests like puff sleeves and a collar. Once I had given her the illustrations from my book which were to be embroidered onto the dress by her embroiderer extraordainaire Sally, I trusted them with all my heart to make it beautiful. Some things are just better judged by the designer because they have an eye for how fabric flows.
The embroideries by The Couture Company have always been wicked, I just look at the website and go oooh and aah, and I want this and that… But it is not until you see the illustration my husband made, and then the embroideries made from it, that you are just gobsmacked by the absolute talent. This is crazy amazing stuff and I’m not exaggerating when I say it is a work of art. The belt is the design of an 17th century pie lid, and they didn’t even roll on the floor laughing when I asked them to include it. And look how they made it into this amazing embroidery.
Sadly on the day of my book launch I wasn’t feeling 100% well, but once I had the dress on I felt just gorgeous and seeing it made me so happy that I couldn’t stop smiling all evening.
As a creative person I appreciate the work that went into this dress, it is just the most beautiful thing I have ever seen and I just want to have a custom glass cabinet made for it so I can look at it all day every day.
This really isn’t just a gown, I really feel like I own artwork with this. It is truly unique and tailored to my body like a fingerprint. I can not thank The Couture Company enough for making my occasion so incredibly special, for making me feel like a princess for the day.
Having this dress made is truly one of the funnest and most amazing experiences of my life.
I just wished I had known them back when I got married.
If you are a bride, I guarantee you will feel like a queen with a dress made by these ladies.
A million times thank you x”
I am so excited to share Lizzie and Jake’s wedding !! We love this wedding so much, packed with so much fun colour and Love, truly unique and totally awesome, !! Lizzie and Jake were married at Birmingham’s Electric Cinema, and then went on for a mexican fiesta style party at the fabulous Bodega Bar in the city centre.
Lizzie chose our Gala dress as inspiration and we put some personal twists in it to make it unique to her, we added a cute little sleeve and over laid the spotty fabric onto the palest pink tuille, to give a really subtle pinky hue, It suited Lizzie’s colouring perfectly and she looked super cute
Huge congratulations on your awesome wedding guys xxx

Lizzie writes “My now husband and I put our heads together one evening and decided what we really wanted our wedding day to be about. We wanted it to be personal. We met in Birmingham and wanted to support the local businesses we loved. We booked our ceremony and reception venue straight away but the part I was most nervous about was finding my wedding dress. I knew the traditional white dress wasn’t my cup of tea, found the idea of trying on wedding dresses quite intimidating and didn’t know where to start looking for an alternative… then I went to The Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza in Fazeley Studios, saw The Couture Company’s heavenly dresses and the rest was history!
On my first visit to the boutique, Jo sketched out the dress, a combination of a few dresses I’d seen and adored and I placed my order on the spot. Each time I visited for my fittings the dress was more and more stunning, it didn’t stop me from being super nervous before my final appointment when I got to take my dress home with me! Jo and the team were so knowledgeable, professional and welcoming, I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect and “me” dress and felt incredible wearing it on our wedding day.”
