It is my absolutely pleasure to bring you this wedding of pure cuteness and Jo…this is the one that Cheryl and Sasha got married at The Donkey Sanctuary, and Sasha had one of the gorgeous donkeys as her bridesmaid!!
Sasha found us via The Eclectic wedding Extravaganza , and headed over from sunny Wales to have her dress designed and made by our team!!
We have THE best clients
We asked Sasha to tell us about their wedding so here goes
” I had a donkey bridesmaid at the donkey sanctuary! One of our dogs was also our ringbearer and at our reception we had some donkey guests hanging out with everyone getting cuddles. We also had a hand fasting ceremony and jumped the broom at our reception which was really meaningful and a chance to involve our friends and families.
We decorated our reception with plants and flowers we had collected the day before from the local area with family, and Cheryl’s dad made an amazing board with loads of photographs of us as kids and growing up. We also had a stepladder next to our top table with photographs of my mum, dad, nan and grandad. They’ve all passed on but it was important for them to have a presence on our big day.
Our Wedding was also environmentally friendly. This was really important for both of us, all our cutlery and tableware was made from bamboo, and at the end of the day we only had two small bags of non recyclable waste which I think is amazing as we had over 100 guests!
Get the right photographer! I had been told this beforehand and it’s absolutely true. The day goes so fast, it’s been great being able to go over the pictures and be reminded of it all. Our photographer was also great at taking candid shots of our guests which was a brilliant addition. We got to see everyone having fun and saw different sides to the day which was lovely.”
Sasha also had some kind word to say about us “My dress was perfect! I am not a “dress person” but jo was brilliant and helped me figure out exactly what I wanted. The detail on my dress was perfect and I just couldn’t imagine wearing anything else. Thank you Jo and your team for being so approachable, knowledgeable and skilled. Loved the whole experience
Sasha’s gown was based on our Lolita design, but has unique twists and colours that were Sasha’s favourites. It was made from silk organzas, tuile and french lace and was adorned an embellished with embroidered leaves and appliqued french corded lace …Such a gorgeously gothic combo, and how cool does it look with sparkly doc martins??

Today on the blog we have the wedding of our gorgeous rockabilly bride Mel and her boy Lee, Mel was an absolute sweetheart to work with and was full of fun , crazy and kitsch ideas,
We created a design that was fun, comfortable and very Mel, we incorporated beade Swallows and a Mexican sacred heart into her design too..
Huge Thanks to Mel for this lovely testimonial and for sharing her gorgeous wedding photos with us 🙂
“The whole process of getting a dress from the Couture Company was perfect. The moment I walked into the studio I knew I had made the right decision. Jo was helpful and understanding throughout and every visit made me feel more confident, and each time I saw my dress coming together I got more excited to see the finished result. In the end, it was exactly what I had hoped for, and on the day I felt exactly as I should – like me! All of our guests commented on how the dress was perfect for me, and I felt like it too. I still get to wear a little bit of my dress now and again as one of the embellishments was made into a brooch so I could wear it as little memento, which is just lovely. Thank you to Jo and all her lovely staff for making such brilliant dresses! ” Mel xx

Jess’s eclectic frock was totally unique and bespoke to her and her wedding -Alternative Wedding Dresses
We met Jess when she entered ( AND WON) our competition at the Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza, what an amazingwedding she had planned, lots of fun and brimming with everything her and her fiance Roger loved!!
We were so excited creating the sea green, teal and black gown for Jess, from finding the green leopard print to coming up with the ideas for Jess’s eclectic mix of embroideries to go on the dress, there were so many great personal touches from an embroidery of Rogers fave guitar, to a Totoro for Jess’s son Zak, we included a tardi hurtling towards the Milky way, conjoined skulls, musical notes and a bird skull feather bow on the back.
I absolutely love these photos by our awesome Assassynation
Not only did Jess find ourselves and Assassynation at the show, but she found the lovely Ellie the celebrant from Alternative Ceremonies Uk , and also the fabulous entertainment of Joypads Come to the Eclectic wedding Extravaganza on the 1-2nd April in Birmingham , and enter the competition to win vouchers to wards your wedding dress and photography with The Couture Company and Assassynation 🙂
So happy to share Sooz’s gorgeous festival style wedding, we loved creating Sooz’s dress and especially the additions of the teal mix tuille and beaded peacock feather to complete , She was such a dream to work with , a gorgeous girl inside and out 🙂 We do love our brides
Sooz writes “Before I even entertained the thought that one day I might get married, I used to imagine cringe-worthy meringue-type stuffy wedding dress shops where you don’t like any of the dresses but you feel obliged to pick one. I just felt in my heart that IF I should ever get married, how would I ever deal with that part let alone all of the other scary stuff you have to do.
However, one day it actually happened and my boyfriend proposed!! How exciting it was!! And how TERRIFYING at the same time – where do you start?? At that exact point once I calmed myself down, I thought “let’s just start with the NICE bit – THE DRESS!” and googled “ALTERNATIVE” “ FESTIVAL” “CIRCUS” “WEDDING DRESS DESIGNERS NEAR BIRMINGHAM” (Because my mum lives near there and I thought it would be nice for us to do the dress thing together.) Couture company came up, and as soon as I saw the website and all the pictures I knew that this was THE PLACE FOR ME.
I emailed Jo and she replied straight away and invited me for an appointment once I’d sent a few ideas. The first visit was really exciting, the place is a true atelier fantasy-enchanted-fairy-tale-dream come true! All the dresses and accessories in there are unique and WOW!
I had 3 or 4 fittings over the course of about 6 months and I would get really nervous on the way, as if I’d been imagining it wrongly in my head since the last visit and that suddenly somehow it would have all changed or I would have changed shape or that the dress would no longer suit me… (??) This was just wedding paranoia and Jo is an expert on how to deal with this. She has a down-to-earth, matter-of-fact style (“of course you’re gonna like it”!!) which puts you immediately at ease as you can see she’s creating something stunning, which gets even more like your idea with each fitting but with extra little beautiful embellishments. My mum loved her too. Each time I came out of the atelier feeling excited and confident.
The actual dress on the day was everything I’d wanted it to be! I managed to get away with no bra (clever Jo) so it was really comfortable and looked great with my sapphire DMs for our festival style wedding! I could dance about all I wanted to. Everyone was blown away by the dress and remarked how gorgeous it was! My Esther https://www.facebook.com/esthermarsmillineryandmaking is a designer and made an amazing sequinned, peacock-feathered headdress without even seeing the dress, which I loved and it looked perfect with the dress. I’m now trying to come up with occasions when I can have an excuse to wear it all again! I am so glad I found Jo – she made the whole experience really special and I would highly recommend her for those brides wanting something sassy, beautiful, alternative and cool!
