I am so pleased to be able to share Olga’s beautiful Greek wedding, Olga married in her native Athens!! just look at the views!!! I love the beautiful heavier silk damask pattern mixed with the soft honey tones of tuilles….Olga reminds me a 50’s film star xx so classic and chic xxx Please scroll down for Olga’s adventures with us x
Thanks Olga for your lovely write up, it was our absolute please to create this gown for you
“Our decision to have a Greek church wedding was kind of spontaneous and gave us less than 4 months to plan the whole event abroad. I always knew I wanted to get married at the highest point in Athens, the Lycabettus Hill. I also had an idea of my dream wedding gown; it had to be a big 1950s style gown with an edge. Most of the wedding gown stores I visited were only getting terrified in the idea they would need to have the dress ready in a fraction of time and I was getting frustrated as I couldn’t find anything that would match my dream wedding gown ready made. Also, the fact my mother is a costume designer always guided me towards having a bespoke and good quality dress. Anything else would be a compromise.
After tears and despair my online research led me to the Couture Company website. I was impressed by the unique designs and materials; these dresses had the edge I was looking for and most importantly they were real bespoke gowns. However, I was almost certain I would get rejected due to the short time I had left before I needed to travel to Greece for the big day. When I first contacted Jo and we booked the first appointment I couldn’t believe how lucky I was. The Couture Company provided me with the experience I was looking for the big day. I took some vintage dresses’ pictures with me and we discussed the design of the ideal dress. I will never forget how excited I felt when they agreed to actually create it for me and I had the opportunity to actually see and feel the fabric before the dress was made.
It only took three or four fittings before I could take the dress home with me. It was amazing. The first fitting was the a very plain material version of the dress and when we agreed on the details I started feeling like a princess, looking even more forward to the day I would actually wear it.
When I eventually travelled to Athens I knew straight away that my choice would be reviewed by my mother. She pointed out how spotless and perfectly made was the dress. My mother in law also commented I couldn’t have made a better choice on a dress. When the big day arrived, everybody commented on the design, the uniqueness of the fabric, how great it fitted me and that it looked much more expensive than its actual cost. The dress the Couture Company created for me is equal to quality and style, more than what I had imagined.
I very recently received the dvd from the wedding day. It brought me up all the memories of the day, but I also enjoyed so much seeing the way the dress moves and how it is captured on camera.
I can’t thank or recommend Jo and her team enough. They created a fantastic dress in a very short time. It is a bit over a year after the wedding day and there are still people commenting on my dress.
Thank you Jo!!! xx

I am so happy to share this awesome bride and her gorgeous wedding with you today!!!!!
When Lowri came to us we were mega flatterered, not only did she travel up to see us from Devon , she also said she had done lots of research and couldn’t find anyone who did the kind of designs we did, and as designers that is a extra special compliment to know that brides recognise our own unique style.
Lowri had a wonderful fun packed wedding on the coast, jam packed with loads of activities for her guest to enjoy, Lowri and Lee thought of everything for everybody at their wedding, and that really comes across in her beautiful photographs,
I cannot thank Lowri enough, she has been such a champion for the Couture Company, not only by trusting us to design her gown along with very personalised embroideries, but by shouting about us whenever she gets the chance. I am so glad to share this lovely testimonial with you brides to be, hope fully it will give you an insight into how we work 🙂
“I knew my dress had to be red and I knew the basic shape I wanted, but finding a quirky alternative dress that was still beautiful, enhancing and not too ‘out there’ was not as easy as I assumed it would be”, she explained. “Then I found The Couture Company. I tried to find someone similar more locally but once I’d seen Jo’s dresses no-one else could compare! In the end it was so worth it to me to travel to Birmingham for my fittings. I booked an appointment and all I can say is the whole process was a dream. Jo got what I wanted from the start and was flexible enough to alter the personalisation halfway through when I changed my mind. Jo really made me look just as I imagined I would on my wedding day. She was amazing!”

We met the lovely Emma, at The Eclectic wedding Extravaganza AKA EWE, and boy are we glad she chose us to make her gown, we loved working on this Steampunk/victorian inspired wedding gown, and we loved working with Emma!!
Emma’s gown consisted of a ruby red silk corset and skirt, and then we designed and laser cut some metallic leather cogs and mixed with cogs and gears from old watches to create this lovely cogs and gears steampunk inspired embellishment . We think that Emma’s whole wedding looks really awesome and she has really captured that victorian feel with all her colours and styling 🙂
Thanks to Emma for her lovely write up “Getting my wedding dress from Jo was straightforward and much less complicated than I thought it would be. I was able to schedule appointments around work which was very convenient. Jo listened to the ideas I had, and came up with some brilliant touches of her own too which really made it look wonderful. I felt involved in creating my dress and the end result was truly beautiful! I’ve even worn it again since the wedding!” Photos supplied courtesy of Joe McMahon
Victoria’ s Midnight Blue organza corset dress for her alternative windswept wedding up on the moors
We were so excited when Victoria came all the way down from Manchester to see us, she told us all about her wedding on the moors, and she wanted a dramatic dress to suit the surroundings, but most of all a dress that felt “her”. We showed Victoria this gorgeous shade of midnight blue and she was smitten:) The dress comprises of a corset, and organza and tuille skirt, overlaid with a full length , high neck sheer coat. We couldn’t have asked for better weather for her to show off the drama of her dress, we love the windswept shots!! I am sure you will agree that Victoria looks stunning, we were so pleased that she chose us to design her gown, and extra thankful for her lovely testimonial 🙂
Victoria writes “I never wanted a run of the mill wedding dress, it had to be different. I’m very fair and wanted a colour to suit me. After searching endlessly for a blue gown that coudn’t be found, I came across The Couture Company. I found a picture of a dress on their website that I fell in love with. During the first consultation we discussed exactly what I wanted the dress to look like including any colour I wanted, materials and personal touches for the finer detail. I felt confident every step of the way that I would end up with a very high quality dress that was completely unique. The finished product was more than I could have ever have wished for; dramatic and quirky and very me!”

This shoot is one of my absolute favourites of all time, not only because it was the biggest shoot we had ever done, but because we got to know so so many awesome people who were involved, and led to many amazing projects ,but mostly because we it was the start of a beautiful friendship with my very good pal Sassy who is the creative genius behind Assassynation. This then led to us setting up The Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza, and even more importantly me having the honour of making Sassy’s Vow renewal dress ( but more about that in a few weeks)
Here’s a fab film of what we got up to…it was a LOT of fun!!!! Thanks again to EVERYONE involved

Super excited to share Bex wedding with you!!!, bex was one awesome colourful bride, everything about her, her wedding and her dress was so colourful!! we are absolutely over the moon that she got in touch and we got to design her wedding gown, and we just loved her tattoos so much that they had to go on her dress as well. Get your sunnies on!! This wedding is bright!!! 🙂
Bex tells her story about her dress far better than we can, so its over to Bex :)….. “When I started looking for a wedding dress the only thing I really knew was that I didn’t want to wear white/cream or anything similar. After several failed trips to local traditional wedding dress shops I was starting to think I was never going to find a dress. I didn’t want to wear a bridesmaid dress or a prom dress I still wanted to look like a bride but just a colourful one.
I had seen The Couture Company at The Eclectic wedding Fair and fell in love but assumed I wouldn’t be able to afford such an incredible dress. I decided to email anyway just to see and was pleasantly surprised that this might actually be possible. After meeting Jo and trying on dresses at the shop I just couldn’t imagine getting married in anything else. We talked about colours there was so much choice!! I was in heaven. Jo took some photos of my tattoos and these were turned into embroidery on the corset. I love this so much. So unique and beautiful.
I felt amazing on the day, Paul thought I looked fantastic. I loved the swishy skirt, it looked great on the dance floor. The corset was really comfortable and it didn’t limit how much I could eat from our massive cake table. I also have the added bonus that having a separate corset and skirt I can wear both again for Christmas parties etc.
I am so glad I decided to send that email. Not only did I love the whole process and feel like a princess at the end my Mum and bridesmaids enjoyed the visits to the shop for fittings too. Being right near Birmingham city center we combined visits to Jo with girly shopping trips.
Thanks so much to Jo and her team for making my totally unique amazing dress.”
Thank you Bex for coming to us and being such an awesome bride!!!, we were totally stoked to work on your wedding gown xxx Such Fun!!!

Bex fab hair and make-up was done by those awesome ladies at The Vintage Salon
And you can see the whole fab wedding, including crochet taxidermy!!! here on Rock n roll bride
We have known the lovely Julia for a while as she works with the awesome girls at The Vintage salon, just down the hall from us in The Custard Factory, so ever since Julia said she was getting married we were looking forward to making her gown, as she rocks the vintage look and we just knew a 50’s style dress would be the perfect one for her… I am sure you will agree she looks bloody awesome in her polka dot ensemble, and we loved adding the headress as the finishing touch!
“I knew when the time came to look for my wedding dress, that a “normal” wedding dress shop wouldn’t be my first choice, but I visited a couple just to confirm! Working just a couple of doors down from The Couture Company certainly spoilt me. The gorgeous designs which I had already come across through photoshoots for work and looking through the window were just fantastic and none of the ones I tried on before visiting Jo lived up to what I’d already seen. I should have saved time and gone straight to visit Jo!
Jo knew exactly what would suit my figure, but patiently listened to my thoughts and the initial designs and pictures I sent were interpreted into a dress that was unique. It fitted perfectly both my figure and my style and I loved it and I had so many compliments on the day and since.”

Emilia’s Red and cream embroidered wedding gown had a very personal touch!! as the embroidery designed by her Husband to be…
We loved working with Emilia on her gown , when she came to us via our sister company Rawhide Corsets, she asked if we could incorporate a design that her fiance had done, so with a couple of tweeks we were set to go and did a swirly scrolly embroidery to complement and flatter Emilia’s stunning figure , and are super pleased with how fab it all looked on Emilia.
Congratulations Emilia , you look gorgeous and Thanks so much for your lovely write-up 🙂 xx
“I would encourage all creative brides to get there dress made by Rawhide corsets/The Couture Co, They are so friendly and helpful and amazingly talented at making your visions come to life. The craft work is faultless and the dress will come out stunning and comfortable. The lovely ladies of rawhide are always happy to help and will try to stay in your budget and design as close as they possibly can, it may even work out cheaper then getting your dress of the rack. In conclusion if your thinking of going bespoke dont hesitate talk to Rawhide it will be the best decision you made since getting engaged !! “
Our Burlesque beauty Jo rocks her red and black tattooed dress, for her Alice inspired alternative wedding
Ok Kicking off 2014 as we mean to go on, with our kick ass Burlesque beauty Jo!!!
We absolutely loved working with our gorgeous Jo on her wedding gown, she was a dream to work with (and a little crazy), but it takes one to know one and we too are slightly crazy!!!! Jo knew exactly what type of dress she wanted, and most of all it had to be “her”. So thats what we did, we created a dress that was her!! From the red haired girl kissing the skull on the back of her gown, to the violets and roses in memory of her beloved Nan .
We cannot thank her enough for choosing us to design her dress and for this lovely testimonial xx
“as promised, here are some lovely words to you from my heart….
Finding my dream wedding dress had been an issue from day one. From getting laughed out of 2 shops and leaving one in tears I had become disheartened and depressed about finding *THE DRESS*. Then I stumbled upon The Couture Companies website by accident and fell in love with the gowns on the site. I knew I had found the company to help me.
Upon walking into the showroom I knew I had found a kindred spirit in Jo and I felt immediately at home. Jo & her team actually managed to somehow get inside my head and create a masterpiece. I really couldn’t have asked for anything more. The dress fitted me like a glove and the hand embroidered tattoo patches were incredible, even to the point of incorporating my Nan’s name (who we sadly lost in May) in the form of stunning violets and roses so I somehow had her with me on the day. They weren’t put off by the ideas, the colour I wanted or the patches I had in mind. In fact they seemed excited!
I honestly can’t recommend Jo and her team enough. They are friendly, professional and all just super lovely to work with and I am so thrilled I found them.
mmmmmmmmmwah! xxx Jo ”

There are a few more fun photos below taken by Jo’s new husband Mark, who is also a photographer, ML Imagery whilst they were on honeymoon in Brighton!! Enjoy lovlies
Lisa and Tim were married earlier this year at the inspiring Fazeley Studios ( where we hold The Eclectic wedding Extravaganza). Their wedding had a Pirate theme, and Lisa came to us wanting an Olde worlde yet quirky gown, we loved working with Lisa on her dream dress, and I am so pleased to be able to share some of her photos with you 🙂
For Lisa’s gown we created lots of individual embroideries inspired by skeletal leaves, fungi and feathers, trailing vines in varying hues of creams and buff colours along with hand dyeing and appliqueing french lace over a structured corset bodice to give this dress a very Olde world charm.
Thanks Lisa for your lovely sharing you photos and this lovely testimonial
“I just wanted to say a massive thank you for all your work and giving me the dress I thought I could only dream of. My experience of dress shopping in the lead up to the wedding really wasn’t pleasant as being slightly alternative and not very girly everyone had their opinions and expectations of what I would be wearing so I had to get it right. It was a massive relief seeing you and your dresses at The Electric Wedding Extravaganza, It was like love at first sight when I seen the dress on display. Our theme being vintage/pirate it was perfect. I was very nervous coming for the first fitting as I’m a girl that doesn’t really do dresses but you and your team made me feel so comfortable, you knew what I wanted and made all the alterations perfectly.
Everyone was amazed by the dress and said they had never seen a dress like it. Tim’s reaction was the best, stunned and shocked he said I was his pirate princess and I definitely felt like one. Even when we went out to have our photos done random people came up to say how beautiful I was and compliment the dress. Thank you again, I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a dress to come and see you ladies at The Couture Company. The dresses are to die for and such value for money.

I am delighted to share our gorgeous bride Angi’s wedding pics, Angi came to us wanting something unusual and non-tradtional, that was still special, still bride like and still having the WOW factor!!
We designed and made Angi’s gown in a honey blush shade of silk dupion and tuille, the corsetted bodice was finished with a pretty ribbon laced back, and the skirt was cut into layers and layers of asynmetric tuille, overlaid by and undulating layer of sumptious silk dupion …
We also made this cute feathery fascinator for Angis hair, and the feathers tome beautifully with the tone of the gown
Thanks to Angi for this fabulous testimonial, we are so glad you came to us !!!
“We booked our wedding in January of this year for March 10th, leaving us less than three months to plan and pay for everything!! Unlike a lot of women I had no idea what type of dress I wanted. I had a little look online, but was overwhelmed with the choices .I went to a couple of wedding dress shops with my mom but nothing really stood out for me, I was destined for an ivory dress with lots of fancy lace n beads or just a plain strapless satin one neither of which style or idea filled me with joy!
I remembered seeing a wedding dress in a window at the custard factory, so I did a quick search online found their number and made an appointment that same day.
As soon as I walked into the shop I knew instantly this is where I would find my wedding dress. With rails full of one off beautiful creations in an array of styles and colours I was at last beginning to feel excited about my wedding dress.
Jo suggested I just try a few on so I could get an idea of what I liked and perhaps didn’t like. There wasn’t many of the latter!
I very almost went for a short wedding dress unbeknown to my husband until now!! It was stunning in a deep ivory with bud like twist designs all over with a ‘fifties’ styling. I finally decided against it but I will have that dress one day too…how long do people normally wait to renew their vows??Jo asked me to have a think at home, maybe look around and send some ideas of what i liked.
I explained to Jo about my ‘dream dress’ and together we narrowed down exactly what it was that I loved about it.
At our next meeting I was simply blown away by what Jo had sketched out for me, her talent really did amaze me my dream dress had just taken on a new identity, to say i loved it was an understatement. I still have the drawing of my dress which I intend to frame along with some of the chosen fabric. From our conversations Jo had managed to design a dress better than I had ever imagined.
I had tried on another dress in her shop in a colour that I loved so I decided on that. I also decided on a skirt and corset design, which I am so pleased about as unlike many brides I can and will be able to wear part of my wedding dress again.
The dress fittings were great and Jo and her team were very informative and understanding. Jo especially just instinctively knew what I wanted, fuller at the back, longer there, shorter here..it really was so much fun. Having a bespoke gown really is the way to go! I also chose my headpiece from there, it was again handmade and simply beautiful, along with a stole incase I got cold. Which as it snowed on the morning of my wedding was a very good investment.
On my actual wedding day everyone was complementing me on my dress all day. My husband described it as unforgettably stunning and said he was so pleased I had chosen to have a bespoke gown that was individual to me. Everyone said it was exactly my style and couldn’t have been a better suited dress.
I would not hesitate in recommending The Couture Company to anyone, I have and will be singing their praises til the end of time . My friends and I talked about planning a joint themed party for our birthdays just so we can all have corsets made by Jo.
Jo Bromley I can not thank you enough.” 🙂

The smile!!!! That smile does it for me…a picture paints a thousand words!
Niki came to us knowing she wanted a 50’s style dress, she knew what kind of look and feel she wanted for sure, she just wasn’t absolutely sure on the fine details. It took us a couple of consultations and deliberations on details to get the perfect design for Niki….and sometimes that is what happens when a bride is having a gown made, sometimes after more thought ,fabrics or colour may change, details may change, but if the end result is that we have a happy radiant gorgeous bride then its worth every minute of making sure the design is right and that the bride is happy before we even cut a gown.
Niki’s gown was designed and made with a boat neck and 3/4 sleeves, in a pretty polka dot sheer silk organza, it was trimmed with covered buttons up the back and on the sleeves, and had a lovely big frothy petticoat and was finished witha silk satin sash and bow and a matching Bow alice band.
As with a lot of brides who have gowns made , its perfectly natural to be a little anxious about the final result, afterall there is nothing tangible to go on except seeing and trying other styles of gown in our boutique. Niki was no exception to this…sometimes a sketch, some fabric swatches and trying on samples is all they have before they take a big leap of faith into having a bespoke gown made us.
Brides like Niki are why I started to write a blog that features our brides and how they felt about having their wedding gown made, I want our girls to be honest about the process and how they felt on the day when they write their testimonials, so that other Brides to Be can have assurance and peace of mind that we are going to do our utmost to make them feel like the beautiful girl they should on their wedding day.
Look at that waistline!! Very tiny and very Fifties !
Niki Writes “When it came to sorting out my wedding dress I knew from the start I wanted a shorter length fifties style dress, a long traditional dress just wasn’t me. I tried searching in wedding dress shops for my ideal dress but just couldn’t find it.
I stumbled across the couture company whilst walking past the custard factory on a night out the cute dress in the window caught my eye so the following day I googled them.
I was your typical bride to be in the respect that I wasn’t 100% sure what I wanted. along the way I changed my mind and the dress design several times thankfully Jo was fine about it and was very patient and understanding with me.
My dress went from a plain simple dress to one with to polka dots with sleeves. There were times when I was nervous as I wasn’t sure if I would like it but when I saw the end product I was over the moon it was stunning !! I had so many wonderful comments on my wedding day everyone said it was very me which is all a girl could ask for.
Thank you Jo !!. ”

When Adele came to see us last year , I could hardly contain my excitement, she did not want a traditional ivory dress , she wanted a RED dress!!!! not only did she want a Red dress but she was adorned in the most beautiful tattoos a mix of cherry blossoms , lilies and butterflies… I was filled with inspiration and felt we had to incorporate some tattoos and colour into her gown. Our embroidery designer Sally got to work from photographs we had taken of Adele’s body art and here are the gorgeous results for a truly stunningly awesome bride.
We LOVED doing this dress and coming up with something so unique and bespoke for Adele !!
thanks Adele for sharing your beautiful photos and for this amazing testimonial,
“I’ve know ever since I was a little girl I wanted to get married in red dress, but unfortunately my taste was not shared by many bridal shops, apart from one. I was told about The Couture Company from a friend who was also getting married, I did not hold out much hope as I had been disappointed before. But boy was I so wrong!!! As soon as I walked through the door I knew I’d get my dress from here!! Jo and her team were so lovely and laid back which made me relax and completely trust them to create the dress of my dreams, and she didn’t disappoint, Jo has a fantastic ability to pick the idea out your head and make it a reality. I didn’t want to take my dress off on my wedding day, it was so beautiful, and beauty should not be hidden in a wardrobe, so I have had mine framed and hung on my lounge wall for to see!
Thank you Jo and your team for all your love and hard work you put into my dress, and helping to make it the best day ever ” xxx
