Congratulations to our bride Kate and her fella Sean who got married in December on a gorgeous crisp day in the gorgeous picturesque town of Stratford.
Kate cames to us wanting a vintage inspired dress with modern twist, so we got to work on designing her dream gown, and included her favorites a Dragonfly and snowflakes
Kate wrote us a lovely testimonial, and we are so happy and proud to have been able to make her dream dress 🙂
“I initially found the thought of wedding dress shopping mildly terrifying to start off with. I knew from the start I didn’t want a traditional style of dress, but had no idea what other options I had available. Some serious internet research later, (and a little hint off the lovely Sassy!) I made my first and only appointment at a wedding dress shop and the awesome journey began!
From the first moment I walked in to Jo’s gorgeous store full of nerves, I knew I had found the right place for me. Jo listens to your ideas (I had literally none!) and then lets you rifle through the rails of what can only be described as dress heaven 🙂 I picked out three or four I wanted to try then the fun bit began!
After going home to ponder, I finally settled on ‘The One’ and went back to the shop the following day. Jo listened to my ideas, gave some fabulous ones of her own and together we settled on a final design.
All through the process, Jo and her team were absolutely lovely. I enjoyed every single one of my fittings and was made to feel at ease at every stage. To see your dress take shape each time you pop in was fabulous to see, and you knew that what you were getting was absolutely one of a kind. Not many brides can truly say that.
The finished dress was so much more than I could have ever dreamt of, I was absolutely blown away. Happily so was my husband! He has said that it was better than he ever could have imagined (there were even a few tears! ) All day long I had comments from friends and family saying how wonderful and original it was, even the registrars complimented it!
I really cannot recommend Jo and her team enough. If you want the dress of your dreams, and I genuinely believe that no dream is too crazy! Then Jo can make them come true for you….. Kate xxx ”

Victoria’ s Midnight Blue organza corset dress for her alternative windswept wedding up on the moors
We were so excited when Victoria came all the way down from Manchester to see us, she told us all about her wedding on the moors, and she wanted a dramatic dress to suit the surroundings, but most of all a dress that felt “her”. We showed Victoria this gorgeous shade of midnight blue and she was smitten:) The dress comprises of a corset, and organza and tuille skirt, overlaid with a full length , high neck sheer coat. We couldn’t have asked for better weather for her to show off the drama of her dress, we love the windswept shots!! I am sure you will agree that Victoria looks stunning, we were so pleased that she chose us to design her gown, and extra thankful for her lovely testimonial 🙂
Victoria writes “I never wanted a run of the mill wedding dress, it had to be different. I’m very fair and wanted a colour to suit me. After searching endlessly for a blue gown that coudn’t be found, I came across The Couture Company. I found a picture of a dress on their website that I fell in love with. During the first consultation we discussed exactly what I wanted the dress to look like including any colour I wanted, materials and personal touches for the finer detail. I felt confident every step of the way that I would end up with a very high quality dress that was completely unique. The finished product was more than I could have ever have wished for; dramatic and quirky and very me!”

Sian Came to us very focussed on the kind of dress she wanted for her Wedding day, she chose a corset from our Rawhide Corsets collection, the Francesca corset is trimmed with the most exquisite jet beaded french lace, and we designed a skirt and cropped organza bolero to compliment. Sian also brought a hat to us to be dressed to compliment her dress, and just puts the finishing touch to this Victorian inspired ensemble.
Sian writes “The day went well and the dress was extremely well received so thanks a million for that. The blue was just perfect and I hope with the recommendations I have passed on that you should get some work from those I have spoken to. ” Thanks Sian xx
We love the Cobalt Blue silk dupion that Sian chose and thinks it suits her wonderfully.
A very grand and Majestic set of photos for you dear readers

Nicola came to us with certain things that she wanted incorporating into her gown, It had to be simple and stylish, nothing too fussy or embellished, something a bit Boho, with a sleeve …….. So we chatted and I sketched a few ideas down , suggested a fabric that was a bit swishy and that hung and fell beautifully, so we chose Changeant Silk Chiffon…. in the most gorgeous shade of pale aqua turquoise, we overlaid it onto a very pale pwder blue silk crepe de chine. Perfect for a relaxed British beach wedding in May
The most rewarding moment of the year for me was helping Nicola into her gown at her final fitting, and seeing the beaming smiles on both her and her mums faces as she came out of the changing room!! That was priceless, you cannot buy or fake smiles like that!! I must admit my eye started leaking a little at that point, but hopefully they didn’t notice ;-P
Thank you Nicola for choosing us, for sending us your gorgeous pics and this awesome testimonial xxx
“thank you Jo for creating such a beautiful dress for me and for being so lovely. Organising a dress was an experience I was dreading and you made it very enjoyable. It was always a pleasure to come for my fittings and you made me feel so relaxed and confident. I loved the dress and felt great in it and it was so beautifully made. I kept peeking at it before the wedding and it made me smile so much. The fact you cater for all shapes and sizes and know how to make all brides look wonderful is really unique. I am so glad I found you! Thank you again.” Nicola
Now I know it’s not easy for a bride to put complete trust in us to make her a gown, especially when its a dress designed from scratch , and a colour you can only see on a shade card….I totally get that…and that is the reason I started this blog and asked my brides to be honest about how they felt about their gowns , their wedding days and the service we gave them. I can tell brides till I am blue in the face that they will look gorgeous and the dress we have designed will be totally them, and fit them like a glove….but you cannot go on blind faith…I know that….so hopefully now you brides-to-be can see some of the gowns we have made, and how beautiful our brides look, and take confidence from these blogposts 🙂
